Amitayus Retreat

Weekend Retreat

Buddha Amitayus, the Buddha of Long Life, wisdom, and merit, has the power to bestow upon us immeasurably long life, profound wisdom and great good fortune. During the retreat, we will engage in beautiful chanted prayers, meditations, and mantra recitation requesting blessings for ourselves and others to enjoy a long, happy and meaningful life.

It is traditional for Kadampa centres to engage in a short retreat on this beautiful practice early in the year.

The special structure of retreat provides consistent familiarity with meditation, facilitates deep connection to our meditation objects and brings deeper transformation, leaving a lasting positive impact on our life.  Because retreat facilities immersion without distraction it is a powerful method for inner transformation.

Those unable to attend the entire retreat can book for individual full days, individual sessions however are not drop-in.  As this retreat is not guided we ask that participants attend the introduction.

Everyone is welcome  although some previous experience of Buddhist practice may be helpful.

Sessions last 1 hour Friday 7:30pm introduction Saturday and Sunday: 9am, 11am  2pm, 4pm

(TTP slot will be Amitayus retreat according to HYT)

Step away from the stress and busyness of daily life and give yourself time to rest, reflect, and reconnect. At Kadampa Meditation Centre Bristol, we offer a variety of meditation retreats throughout the year—both in the heart of Bristol and in peaceful countryside settings. Each retreat provides the perfect opportunity to slow down, quiet the mind, and experience real inner peace.

Our day and weekend retreats include guided meditations, practical talks, and simple methods to develop a calm, positive mind. Through following ancient Buddhist wisdom that is easy to understand and apply, you’ll discover effective ways to reduce stress, let go of worry, and cultivate genuine happiness.

Whether you’re completely new to meditation or have years of experience, our retreats are designed to be accessible, friendly, and deeply transformative. You don’t need to be Buddhist to join—everyone is welcome. Our experienced teachers gently guide you through each step, helping you gain confidence in meditation and insight into how to live with more wisdom and compassion.

Our retreats range from short half-day and day retreats held at the centre, to weekend and countryside retreats that offer a deeper experience away from distractions. Many people find that even a single day spent in a peaceful, supportive environment can create lasting changes in how they feel and respond to life’s challenges.

Join us for a retreat and experience for yourself how meditation can refresh your mind, uplift your heart, and bring balance into every part of your life.
