Amitabha Centre offers two special study programmes. All the drop-in meditation classes and courses are part of our General Programme, which aims to give people a general overview of Buddhist meditation and methods to solve daily problems. For those who are interested in deepening their understanding and practice we offer the Foundation Programme.
The Foundation Programme has been running for many years and is an amazing way to deepen our knowledge and practical experience of Buddha’s teachings, in a friendly and relaxed environment. If offers an opportunity to study Geshe-la’s books in detail within a group context through teachings, meditation, discussion and debate so that we can experience a real difference to our practice in daily life.
The Foundation program consists of the systematic study and meditation on the essential subjects of Kadampa Buddhism by reviewing up to 10 pages of a selected book each week, then in class delving into the teachings and how to practically apply it in our modern life. Each class includes meditations and authoritative guidance and explanation by the resident teacher. In class discussion with friendly classmates who are interested in incorporating a spiritual component to their lives and realistically talking about the challenges and success in making connections to Buddha’s advice.
