Sun 5 July     Advice from Atisha's Heart
with Kelsang Shinaye
Atisha (982-1054 AD) was a great Indian Buddhist Master largely responsible for the reintroduction of Buddhism into Tibet.
By taking his wise advice into our heart we can increase our experience of peace and make all our relationships more positive. We'll find it easy to make swift progress in our spiritual practice.
This course will consist of some commentary to, and meditation on, the short text "Advice from Atisha's Heart" (which can be found in the back of many of Geshe Kelsang's book in the Kadampa way of Life).

Sun 6 Sept      Transforming adverse conditions into the spiritual path
with Gen Kelsang Chonden
When things go wrong for us or we are harmed our mind often becomes negative and unhappy. Since this occurs frequently we might as well learn how to regard the difficult situation as an opportunity for spiritual growth through developing and enhancing good qualities within our mind.

Meaningful mornings

(These are half day courses, 11am-1.30pm )
Facility fee is £7

Sun 12 July     Equanimity: a warm attitude to all beings
with David Towner-Jones
Developing equanimity towards all beings is a good move for you, and for
them. It improves all our relationships, removes many problems and
creates a strong foundation from which to build our practice.

Meaningful afternoons

(These are half day courses, 2pm-5pm )
Facility fee is £8

Sun 12 July     Love, desire and attachment
with Becky Maybury
Most relationships between people are based on a mixture of love and attachment. This is not pure love, because it is based on a desire for our own happiness - we value the other person because they make us feel good. Pure love is unmixed with attachment and stems entirely from a concern for others' happiness. On this course, we will learn to distinguish between these two opposing minds thus improving our happiness and the quality of all our relationships.

Sun 19 July    Basics of Buddhism and meditation
with Dave Towner-Jones
We all want to be happy and avoid suffering all the time, but very few people understand the real causes of happiness and suffering. On this course we'll look at some of the basic views that Buddha taught and how by meditating on them we can develop and maintain a more happy and meaningful life.

Dorje Shugden statueBring your own materials, e.g. paints and brushes. If you want to learn statue painting you will need a statue to paint. There may well be one available here to buy or borrow. The statue painting course can start on Friday evening at 7pm if you want (allowing overnight to dry a base coat...)
